The services and products manufactured by Progressive Machine currently serve customers throughout the Eastern Washington and Oregon region, covering an area of around 12,000 square miles. With loyal customers such as Lamb Weston and Tyson among the many industrial food processing operations that we serve, we have a strong reputation for the quality and timeliness of our work as well as our willingness to guarantee our products. We are known for manufacturing specialty parts for exotic and obsolete equipment. We can also serve customers better by designing equipment from the ground up to fit any need. By identifying and pursuing opportunities to diversify and strengthen our customer base through innovative engineering and excellent service, we hope to continue growing our business in the years to come.
In 1988 Joseph started college with the intent of becoming a chemical dependency counselor. Within a year, Alvarez figured out that he was "better at working with steel and designs than at figuring out what made people tick." Realizing this, he applied what he learned through the Precision Machine Technologies course at Columbia Basin College to find a job at a local machine shop.
In 1998 Joseph purchased Progressive Machine Inc. from the previous owner and has been expanding on the business since. Joseph added automated packaging equipment manufacturing to the already long list of jobs that Progressive Machine handles. In the future Jospeh wants to pursue market growth within the high-tech mechanical, electronic engineering, and robotics industries.
Joseph believes in supporting the community; sponsoring local softball, bowling, and car racing teams. Progressive Machine also donates time and money to many local charities in the Tri-Cities area.
